On Holiday
Packing less, wearing more, and making it all work
I’m sorry, but I will never be the person wearing jeans on a 10+ hour flight.
That doesn’t mean I’m not put together, though.
I almost always land on some version of all black: a comfortable cotton top, a loose pant (look at these on the model, they’re incredible), these would be another great pant option, elevated sneakers, and a large tote (this one is incredible). Usually with a cotton trench thrown over it.
What’s in the bag matters just as much, especially on a long flight. Maybe we get into that separately, but at a minimum: a good lip balm, under eye patches, hand cream, headphones (not wireless, please), a hand sanitizer that doesn’t make me want to gag, and a pouch to hold it all.
Straight into it, assuming we’re going somewhere warm.
I’ve been fixated on these swimsuits lately. I always come back to thin, delicate straps, they just read better to me, a little more intentional. I don’t usually go for prints, but this one feels right. That said, I’ll still bring a simple black. I always do.
These shorts are just right. A great length, easy to wear different ways, and 100% organic cotton (of course).
The hat I already own and wear constantly. A deep brown that works with black without feeling too coordinated. And it actually packs, which ends up being the deciding factor.
The tote was immediate. It’s one of those pieces I can already see everywhere: beach, market, walking around, thrown over the shoulder at casual dinner.
Same with the sandals. Everyone is wearing these, for good reason. Minimal but just elevated enough.
I’ve also been looking for a sunscreen that doesn’t interfere with makeup, and this one keeps coming up. And then Westman Atelier (basically anything), the best of summer makeup.
All of it ends up in a pouch like this, which I’d probably carry straight to dinner at some point.
The shorts again. The hat again. The sandals again. At this point you get it.
Another bag option from a brand that does bags (really) well. Something like this works across everything, and we love things that serve multiple purposes.
This tank I bought immediately. Easy during the day, but I’d just as easily wear it to dinner.
Sunglasses sure to be seen again below.
And a silver cuff, which tends to pull everything together without needing much else.F
For a more romantic evening, I’ll almost always go back to a simple black dress, and the lace on this one adds that little sexy touch.
Then something small to shift it a bit. A clutch like this to add a little color (plus, I always love a tassel).
I like the braided strap on these heels, it’s subtle but it adds a little something.
And then something from Dorsey (of course). They’re usually where I find the finishing pieces.
For another day by the water, this is more or less what I end up in.
This skirt is probably the most worn thing in my closet at this point. I always love a navy and black look, it just works (in my eyes).
A button down like this (it’s 50% off) over a swimsuit, which I’ve clearly been fixated on, makes it easy to go to lunch straight from the sun.
Same black sunglasses from before, and a silk scarf that I’ll end up wearing a few different ways.
I like these sandals for a flip flop alternative.
And never forget a good book.
Lastly, a great dress to close the trip. Paired with a bag that has been sitting in the back of my mind since I first laid eyes on it. You can find all of these products and more linked here.
I hope we are all headed toward warmer weather soon!
